Health Management Associates to Buy 476-Bed Arkansas Hospital

The Board of Sparks Regional Medical Center in Fort Smith, Ark. plans to sell the 476-bed facility to Health Management Associates in Naples, Fla., according to a report by KHBS/KHOG.

Sparks officials said the new owners are expected to recruit more physicians and increase technology in specialized areas.

Health Management Associates owns and operates 54 hospitals in 15 states with approximately 8,000 licensed beds.
