Wise Health aims to join HCA as part of a long-term strategy, but it may be several months before a final acquisition agreement will be brought to its board.

“We’re in our due diligence phase … we’re still working toward final binding agreements,” Wise Health CEO and President Jason Wren said during a Feb. 27 board meeting, according to the report.

If the acquisition is finalized, Wise Health would transition from a locally owned and operated nonprofit system to being part of one of the country’s largest for-profit hospital operators. HCA currently has about 182 hospitals and 2,300 sites of care.
