If the agreement is approved, Backus Corp. will become a member of the Hartford HealthCare network, which includes Hartford Hospital; the Hospital of Central Connecticut in New Britain; MidState Medical Center in Meriden, Conn.; Natchaug Hospital in Mansfield Center, Conn.; Windham Hospital in Willimantic, Conn.; a large primary care physician group; and a wide spectrum of additional health services.
Backus Healthcare System includes The William W. Backus Hospital, Backus Health Care, Backus Home Health Care, Backus Physician Services, Community Medical Partners, CONNCare and WWB Corp., which are all located in Norwich, Conn.
The two organizations began considering a partnership in February.
