The hospital’s boards of directors and an advisory committee have been recruiting and evaluating possible partners for more than a year.
Under the deal, Harrison Medical Center will become part of Franciscan Health’s integrated health system, enabling its physicians and employees to collaborate and innovate in order to improve the delivery of efficient and effective inpatient, outpatient and in-home care, according to the release.
According to David Veterane, chair of Harrison Medical Center’s board of directors, the two organizations have similar cultures, values and goals. The potential affiliation comes as a response to changing national and local healthcare environments, according to the release.
The affiliation must be approved by the boards of both organizations as well as the Washington State Department of Health and other regulatory agencies. Leaders of Harrison Medical and Franciscan Health expect to complete the process by June 30, 2013, according to the release.
