Laurens County Health Care System began considering an affiliation in July 2011. The board sent out a request for proposal which resulted in five proposals. According to the release, Greenville Hospital System is a natural fit to share economies of scale, improve health services and build compatibility between medical staffs.
The hospitals will now negotiate a final agreement. If the negotiations result in a partnership, the affiliation will assist in establishing a long-term strategy for LCHCS’ operational and financial success in enhancing healthcare services in Laurens County, according to the report.
