Georgia Attorney General Approves University Hospital Acquisition of McDuffie Regional Med Center

The Georgia attorney general has approved the proposed acquisition of McDuffie Regional Medical Center in Thomson, Ga., by University Health Care System in Augusta, Ga., the parent company of University Hospital in Augusta.

The approval follows more than a year of negotiations. As part of the agreement, University Health Care plans to build a replacement facility for McDuffie Regional. According to the report, the next step is to finalize the agreement and begin construction.
