Illinois’ Rockford Health to Explore Merger with OSF Healthcare

Peoria, Ill.-based OSF HealthCare System and Rockford Health System are exploring a merger in which OSF would acquire Rockford Health, according to a report by the Rockford Register Star.

Rockford Health previously explored a merger with Oak Brook, Ill.-based Advocate Health in 2008, but the deal fell through, according to the report.

The merger would expand services and would allow OSF to better compete with Rockford-based SwedishAmerican Health System.
