Under the terms of the agreement, the health systems will operate the “Connected City” under a single entity, West Florida Health. Officials said the goal of the 10-year plan is to build a wellness district which will include advanced research facilities, an innovation center, a hospital and a health and performance institute.
The wellness district will also provide patients access to telemedicine services, streamlined patient-focused medical facilities and the ability for experts to collaborate with clinicians around the world.
“At Florida Hospital, we believe innovative partnerships are key to transforming healthcare. Together, we are creating a wellness destination that will combine high-speed technology and the next generation of medical services. It’s an exciting time for the Pasco County community,” said Mike Schultz, president and CEO of the west Florida division of Florida Hospital.
