Under the proposal, Duke LifePoint has promised to make significant capital investments in GSHS’ technology, equipment and facilities.
With the memorandum of understanding signed, the two organization have entered a period of due diligence, after which the acquisition will be subject to state and federal review.
Formed in 2011, Duke LifePoint is a joint venture between Durham, N.C.-based Duke University Health System and Brentwood, Tenn.-based LifePoint Health. Duke LifePoint consists of 14 hospitals in four states and a healthcare services company offering hospital-based catheterization labs and services.
