The parties reached a short-term agreement Wednesday. Members of the Public Health Trust that oversees Jackson agreed to renew their annual operating agreement with UHealth, valued at $141.6 million, according to the article. The systems also agreed to a separate, one-year deal in which Jackson will pay UHealth about $5.5 million for UHealth’s surgeons to operate at the Miami Transplant Institute.
Jackson health officials still want UHealth to commit to a long-term organ transplant exclusivity agreement. Jackson is currently designing a new tower to house its transplant center, valued at $484 million.
