The board of the financially-troubled Fulton County (Ark.) Hospital has rejected, without discussion, a management plan proposal by Baxter Regional Medical Center in Mountain Home, Ark., according to a Baxter Bulletin report.
The decision was made Thursday morning in a 5-to-1 vote, and BRMC announced the withdrawal of its proposal Thursday evening. The decision was supposedly rooted in the board’s disposition to remain independent, despite the hospital’s financial crisis.
Baxter Regional CEO Ron Peterson said he wishes FCH well, and will continue to work with them in meeting patient needs despite the withdrawal of its management/lease proposal.
Jerry Estes, chairman of the FCH board, has expressed disappointment in the board meeting and that BRMC’s “fair and reasonable offer” was not discussed, according to the report.
