At the same time, the Clay County Circuit Court granted the city permission to appoint new trustees to the hospital board.
Conflict has been brewing for months since the city council hired consultants that critics feared were prepping the community hospital for a sale to a for-profit buyer. Opponents in the state legislature floated a bill to turn the hospital into a non-profit independent of city control.
