Negotiations between the hospital and Anthem broke down because of reimbursement issues, according to the report. Anthem sent letters to its members telling them that as of May 1, they will no longer be able to use Middlesex Hospital.
Emergency care will still be covered, and members who use PPO plans will still be able to get coverage on an out-of-network basis, according to the report.
In the report, Anthem said that they hope to reach a new agreement before May 1 and will negotiate beyond that if needed.
