The boards of Cone Health and Alamance Regional initially approved a merger in December 2011, but the FTC wanted to investigate the acquisition to ensure it met antitrust guidelines.
Cone Health CEO Tim Rice said in a news release the FTC will put the merger to a final decision “soon” and that both organizations “are very pleased to receive this news from the FTC staff…to enhance the healthcare options for the people of Alamance County.”
