The EDs will be located in the new Sheikh Zayed Tower and The Charlotte R. Bloomberg Children’s Center, a $1.1 billion project the hospital unveiled earlier this month. The new EDs, which are adjacent to the 17-bed Emergency Acute Care Unit, will share an expanded radiology suite that features X-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound equipment. The EDs also have access to six trauma rooms and an eight-room psychiatric emergency area.

The 35,000-square-foot adult ED is three times the size of the current ED and includes 67 private rooms, a family lounge area and private consultation rooms. The pediatric ED is twice the size of the current facility and includes 32 private exam rooms.

The old EDs will close when the new facilities open on April 29.
