Boone Hospital Center eyes new management options: 3 quick facts

Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Mo., is considering dropping its current management company after its board of trustees approached 17 prospective management partners, reports Missourian.

Below are three things to know.

1. St. Louis-based nonprofit BJC HealthCare has leased and managed the county-owned hospital for the past 25 years. Boone’s leasing contract with BJC expires Dec. 21, 2020.

2. Boone has approached 17 companies about taking over management of the facility, according to the article. One of those companies is Columbia-based MU Health Care, an affiliate of the University of Missouri. MU Health Care hospitals include University Hospital and Women’s and Children’s Hospital, both in Columbia.

3. Proposals from management firms interested in partnering with Boone are due June 30. The board of trustees will host open forums with employees and community members in the fall to discuss options moving forward.
