The board will reportedly issue a request for proposals Monday. Interested parties have 60 days to submit proposals to the board for evaluation. Officials said the names of interested parties will remain confidential during the negotiating process, according to the report.
Despite eliciting a favorable reaction from the board of supervisors, other hospital leaders have expressed objections over the move. The medical center’s board of trustees and the Greater Starkville Development Partnership have voiced their opposition to the sale. More than 40 physicians have also signed a petition requesting the hospital stay under local control, according to the report.
