The two organizations began discussions two years ago when they signed a confidentiality agreement. According to the report, officials from Atlantic Health said the board needed more time to deliberate and Barnabas Health’s other “opportunities could be not be forestalled.” Barnabas Health officials declined to comment beyond issuing a statement that the potential deal had terminated.
