Little Rock, Ark.-based Baptist Health has acquired South Arkansas Regional Hospital in El Dorado, expanding its footprint to 13 hospitals.
The health system assumed operations of the 151-bed hospital June 14 and formally welcomed the facility during a ribbon-cutting ceremony June 15. The hospital has been renamed Baptist Health Medical Center-El Dorado.
The facility employs about 400 staff members and provides inpatient and outpatient services, including cardiology, orthopedics, obstetrics and emergency care.
Danna Taylor, president of Baptist Health Medical Center-El Dorado, said the acquisition will strengthen healthcare services for patients in the region.
“I have no doubt that we will be stronger than ever before, and Baptist Health will strengthen our position as the hub for healthcare for Union County and surrounding communities,” Ms. Taylor said in a June 15 news release.
The acquisition comes as Baptist Health continues its expansion across Arkansas. In April, the health system reached a definitive agreement to acquire Magnolia (Ark.) Regional Medical Center. The transaction is expected to close July 12.
