In October, ARH agreed to buy 76-bed Williamson Memorial from for-profit Naples, Fla.-based Health Management Associates. A recent filing with the West Virginia Healthcare Authority put the price tag at $15 million. The deal is expected to be finalized early next year.

Williamson Memorial sits near the Kentucky-West Virginia border and is only two miles from ARH’s Williamson ARH Hospital in South Williamson, Ky. ARH Community CEO Tim Hatfield told the Charleston Gazette that purchasing and subsequently closing Williamson Memorial will eliminate the duplication of services in the area.

ARH will offer jobs to 75 percent of Williamson Memorial employees. The remaining employees may be offered work at the Williamson Memorial facility, which could be converted into a different medical facility.
