Alegent Health to Acquire Creighton University Hospital

Alegent Health in Omaha, Neb., and Creighton University in Omaha have announced a strategic affiliation, which includes Alegent acquiring Creighton University Medical Center from Creighton and its partner Tenet Healthcare in Dallas.

The deal, the subject of recent rumors in the Omaha area, will make Alegent Health the primary teaching site for Creighton’s health sciences schools. Additionally, Alegent Health will integrate Creighton’s physician group, Creighton Medical Associates, into Alegent Health Clinic.

The agreement is expected to be finalized over the summer. The organizations will spend the next several weeks in due diligence.
