Kadlec Regional Medical Center, a 188-bed in Richland, Wash., is asking for 114 more beds so it can build four more floors of its new tower, and 71-bed Kennewick (Wash.) General Hospital wants to put 25 beds back into use at its flagship once it opens a new hospital.
Speaking at a public hearing, the hospitals said area beds are routinely full and urged the state to use a high population growth estimate when determining the need for beds.
A decision is expected on June 7.
