The employee, whose name has yet to be released, was shot once in the leg outside of the medical school in the parking lot before 9 a.m. March 2. She is currently receiving treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The employee said she had an argument with her boyfriend earlier that day, according to police. The boyfriend then called her place of employment saying she left her phone in his car and he was coming to return it. When she left the building to get her phone, the boyfriend allegedly shot her once and fled.

Police are working to track down her boyfriend.

None of the UT Health facilities were placed on lockdown following the incident.
