U of Minnesota Medical School names Dr. Jakub Tolar dean: 3 things to know

Minneapolis-based University of Minnesota Medical School tapped Jakub Tolar, MD, PhD, as dean, effective Oct. 23.

Here are three things to know about Dr. Tolar.

1. Along with his role as dean, Dr. Tolar will serve as interim vice president of health sciences of the medical school.

2. Dr. Tolar has been a faculty member of the medical school for 25 years. His expertise spans basic science to clinical medicine, including regenerative medicine.

3. Dr. Tolar succeeds J. Brooks Jackson, MD, who was named dean and vice president for medical affairs of the Iowa City-based University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine Oct. 16.
