Summit Health Management to manage Hackensack UHN physicians

Redlands, Calif.-based Summit Health Management, the physician practice management division of Summit Medical Group, announced Monday it signed a letter of intent to manage the employed and leased physicians of the Hackensack (N.J.) University Health Network.

HackensackUHN is one of New Jersey's largest healthcare systems and Summit Medical Group is one of the oldest and largest physician-owned multispecialty groups in the state. When the agreement is finalized, SHM will provide management services to HackensackUHN physicians, while the health system provides an array of services to SHM, including strategic planning, clinical operations, central business operations and materials management, acquisition and business intelligence, provider resource management, human resources, medical records management and others.

The two organizations also discussed the possibility of creating a new co-owned entity. They want to build a new ambulatory care facility, owned by HackensackUHN and managed by SHM, according to a statement.
