The University System of Georgia awarded St. Mary’s Health System $300,000 and Gwinnett Medical System $350,000. The funds are for hiring faculty, preparing curriculum and making necessary renovations required for accreditation, according to the report.
The funds and the resulting residency programs are expected to help alleviate Georgia’s physician shortage, according to the report.
