Kennewick General Welcomes First Class of Residents

Kennewick (Wash.) General Hospital started two physician residency programs in internal and family medicine in July, according to a Tri-City Herald report.

The programs are approved by the American Osteopathic Association, and the hospital may expand the programs to include more specialties in the future, according to the report.

KGH's residency program is the first in the area and aims to relieve the growing physician shortage. "There's a doctor shortage coming and so one of the things we saw the opportunity to do was be contributing to this community by training doctors who will hopefully stick and stay," a KGH spokeswoman told the Tri-City Herald.
