The purchase is a result of the community hospital’s struggle to recruit physicians and the physician group’s struggle to balance clinic management with clinical practice, according to the report. Details of the purchase are expected to be finalized by July 1.

South Peninsula Hospital will lease the clinic’s buildings and purchase its office equipment; the clinic will assume the name South Peninsula Hospital Homer Medical Center.
