Officials said the proposed school is on track to open its doors to students in fall 2018.

The medical school is the result of a partnership between South Orange, N.J.-based Seton Hall University and Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health.

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education will visit the proposed medical school’s construction site in Nutley and Clifton, N.J. as part of the next step of the accreditation process. Officials said the visit will occur sometime in fall 2017.

University officials said the Nutley and Clifton campus will also house Seton Hall University’s College of Nursing and the School of Health and Medical Sciences — both currently located at the university’s main campus in South Orange — once construction is completed.
