Aside from hospital executives, nurses saw the highest increase in pay from 2013 to 2014, according to the Hay Group's annual healthcare compensation survey of over 1,200 U.S. hospitals.
Nurses saw a 2.5 percent increase in both base salary and total cash from 2013 to 2014, a substantial improvement from the 1.8 percent base salary increase and 2 percent total cash increase in 2013. The median base salary increases for same-incumbent independent hospital employees stayed relatively level at 2.6 percent, compared to the 2.7 percent increase in 2013.
The study found employees at large integrated health systems received median base salary increases of 2.5 percent in 2014, a slightly lower increase than in 2013 and 2012 (2.8 percent and 2.9 percent, respectively).
