If the agreement closes as expected Sept. 1, Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation and Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group, the physician group of Northwestern Memorial HealthCare, would form a new organization: Northwestern Medicine.

According to Crain’s Chicago Business, the faculty foundation group is Chicagoland’s second-largest physician group, with 900 physicians. Northwestern Memorial Physicians Group has 122 physicians, according to the report.
