Michigan ER physician saves 4-year-old from drowning at pool

Ashley Nosek, MD, an emergency room physician at Detroit-based St. John Hospital and Medical Center, saved a 4-year-old boy from downing at a neighborhood pool June 29, according to a WXYZ report.

The boy went underwater at Windmill Pointe Park Pool and was not breathing when he was carried from the pool. This is when Dr. Nosek stepped in.

The boy was put on a picnic table as several good Samaritans tried to open his airway. With the help of a combat medic, pediatric cardiologist and lifeguard, Dr. Nosek was able to get boy breathing again.

He was taken to St. John Hospital where his condition was stabilized.

"I was just glad that I was there at the right time," Dr. Nosek said.

Dr. Nosek was at the pool during her maternity leave after having a baby 10 weeks earlier.
