To increase enrollment, the medical school has given its campus a complete face lift amounting to $18 million. Since fall 2014, Mercer has renovated approximately 26,000 square feet of space and built an additional 30,000 square feet of space.
Specific changes include exam rooms, tutorial rooms, offices, a medical library and a long-distance learning room in which students from Mercer’s campuses in Savannah, Macon and Columbus can interact.
The changes are paying off. Beginning in August, the campus will boost its enrollment from 40 students per class to 60 students per class.
