In order to train physicians how to respond, the medical school creates mock scenarios that mimic the sights, sounds and smells of a catastrophe.

RVUCOM has invested in $70,000 Cut Suits, which are worn over the body. These suits, which were recently declassified by the military, closely imitate the human body. They feature blood-filled arteries, lungs and a pumping heart, as well as breakable and repairable skin, bones and other internal organs.

Not only will students learn about medical techniques for these catastrophic situations, but they will also discover stress-coping methods. By utilizing and training with the suits, medical students can be better equipped to assist patients in disasters.
