The University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences has reclaimed full accreditation, according to The Dickinson Press.
In the summer of 2014, the Liaison Committee on Medical Education put the medical school on "warning" status due to a few areas of non-compliance, including not having occupational hazard information easily accessible.
Since then, the UND School of Medicine and Health Sciences made the necessary fixes. It centralized its management with its other medical school campuses, began to post its grades faster and made occupational hazard information more readily available.
The LCME visited UND again last October. Although one area of non-compliance relating to new programs requires more monitoring, the LCME has granted the medical school its full accreditation status.
"I'm proud of UND," said Joshua Wynne, MD, dean of the medical school. "I think we stand up extremely well. Yes, I'm biased, but I think we were in good shape before the LCME visit and thanks to their efforts, we're even better and the idea is we'll continue to strive to get even better still."
The LCME will visit the medical school again during the 2021-22 school year.
