The LCME granted the medical school accreditation for a five-year period Feb. 13.

The WMU medical school began preparing for LCME accreditation in 2011 and received preliminary accreditation the following year. The institution was granted provisional accreditation in June 2016.

“The granting of full accreditation by the LCME is a key step in our journey as an institution and represents a ringing confirmation that the MD degree program at WMed is sound and meets nationally accepted standards of educational quality,” said Hal B. Jenson, MD, founding dean of the Western Michigan University Homer Stryker M.D. School of Medicine.
