Franciscan Alliance Discussing Purchase of Large Indiana Physician Group

Mishawaka, Ind.-based health system Franciscan Alliance is negotiating a purchase agreement with Medical Specialists, the largest independent physician group in Northwest Indiana, according to a Chicago Sun-Times report.

The medical group includes 50 physician specialists and 330 employees at a dozen locations. Franciscan Alliance operates four hospitals in Northwest Indiana and one in Chicago Heights, Ill.

While the health system and physician group are negotiating a sale, a deal has yet to be finalized, according to the report.
