Canton, Ohio-based Emergency Medicine Physicians is teaming up with New York City-based healthcare investment firm Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe to establish US Acute Care Solutions, a majority physician-owned emergency medicine and hospitalist services provider.

EMP employs more than 800 physicians and 300 advanced practice providers at 64 hospitals in 15 states. Its medical group and practice management operations will be the foundation for the new entity with Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe.

The US Acute Care Solutions partnership is expected to close in the second quarter this year, according to a statement.
