Through educational courses, online resources and a team of “well-being champions” to support ACP chapters around the country, ACP aims to address burnout and improve job satisfaction among its members.

“It is critical to address the many factors that can lead to professional dissatisfaction, burnout, depression and suicide among physicians,” ACP’s Board of Regents Chair Susan Thompson Hingle, MD, said in a press release announcing the initiative. “[ACP] is committed to helping internists experience greater fulfillment by identifying, promoting and disseminating approaches to improve the practice environment so that they can better serve their patients.”

ACP plans to offer courses on wellness and satisfaction as well as a relaxation station at its April meeting. It also continues its complementary “Patients Before Paperwork” initiative, which aims to reduce administrative burden.
