Below are four of Dr. Smith’s biggest suggestions to physicians for fighting burnout, according to Healio.
- Get a good night’s sleep. It may sound like a fairly obvious strategy, but few people understand just how vital a night of sound, deep sleep is to function well the next day.
- Take short breaks when needed. Pausing is a good way to regroup during the day and regain some energy.
- Singing and laughing have real effects on a person’s energy levels and outlook, so don’t be afraid to belt a tune in the car on the way to work or during one of your short breaks.
- Keep up your hobbies, which are a good way to make sure time away from work is spent on other activities instead of thinking about tomorrow’s tasks.
