Trinity Health’s Holy Cross and Adventist Healthcare, which operates Shady Grove Adventist in Rockville, Md., both filed for a certificate of need with the state to build hospitals in the county. The proposed locations would have been only a few miles apart, and the commission was not expected to approve both, according to the report.
Marilyn Moon, chair of the Maryland Health Care Commission, previously recommended granting a certificate of need to Holy Cross.
Holy Cross plans to build a $202 million, 93-bed hospital. Adventist had proposed an 86-bed, $177 million facility.
