Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic recorded operating income of $501 million (8.6% operating margin) in the second quarter of 2026, up from $394 million (7.4% margin) during the same period last year, according to its Aug. 21 financial report.

1. Mayo Clinic reported total operating revenue of $5.9 billion during the three months ended June 30, a 9.5% increase year over year. Net medical service revenue increased 9.4% to $4.9 billion, driven by strong outpatient, surgical and hospital volumes and favorable reimbursement yields.
2. Total operating expenses were $5.4 billion in the second quarter of 2026, an 8.1% increase year over year. Salaries and benefits increased 4.6% to $2.9 billion. Supplies and services totaled $2.1 billion, a 13.7% increase year over year that was driven by volume increases.
3. Mayo Clinic had 409 days cash on hand as of June 30, up from 388 on March 31.
4. Mayo Clinic and Microsoft announced June 2 that they are collaborating to develop a frontier AI model purpose-built for healthcare. The model is designed to synthesize diverse clinical data to support earlier diagnoses, more personalized treatment decisions and improved patient outcomes. The collaboration will also create a more personalized, AI-powered patient portal to improve the patient experience and simplify administrative tasks for staff.
5. Mayo Clinic reported net income of $1.5 billion in the second quarter of 2026, up from $921 million during the same period last year.
