The health system will rebrand to UChicago Medicine. The change will affect all of its facilities and ambulatory care centers, including Harvey, Ill.-based Ingalls Memorial Hospital, which UChicago Medicine acquired in October 2016. Ingalls Memorial Hospital will transition to UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial.
Members of the health system’s leadership team will also take on additional responsibilities, beginning Oct. 1. Kenneth S. Polonsky, MD, executive vice president of medical affairs at the University of Chicago, will become president of UChicago Medicine.
Sharon O’Keefe, RN, MSN, president of the University of Chicago Medical Center, will become COO of UChicago Medicine.
“UChicago Medicine is now much more than an academic medical center in Hyde Park and the time is right for us to show that transformation through our logo and a broadened brand promise of being at the forefront of medicine, science and education,” Dr. Polonsky said.
