The health system and insurer have been meeting since November to work out a deal. In July, it was reported the two sides had reached an impasse. At that time, Florida Hospital was reportedly seeking what amounted to a 63 percent rate hike over four years, arguing that its current contract has not been updated since 2001, and the costs of care had increased.
The contract between the groups was originally set to expire on Aug. 13, but the two announced an agreement that would extend United Healthcare members in-network prices at Florida Hospital facilities until Sept. 14.
If the contract would have not been renewed, more than 400,000 United Health members would have been affected, according to the report.
