The 18-hospital system is asking for what amounts to a 63 percent rate hike over four years, but argues that its current contract has not been updated since 2001, and the costs of care have increased.

Florida Hospital and United have been in negotiations since November but have been unable to come to a compromise. If the contract ends, United members will become out-of-network patients at the system’s facilities.
