“Mini Mike Bloomberg is spending a lot of money on False Advertising,” the president said in one tweet. “I was the person who saved Pre-Existing Conditions in your Healthcare, you have it now, while at the same time winning the fight to rid you of the expensive, unfair and very unpopular Individual Mandate.”
President Trump is likely referring to a TV advertisement Mr. Bloomberg, a former mayor of New York, is running in 26 states. The ad focuses on healthcare.
The Hill notes that the Trump administration currently backs a lawsuit seeking to invalidate the ACA, which includes protections for people with preexisting conditions. It also notes that the president backed a bill that would have paved the way for states to apply for waivers to charge people with preexisting conditions higher premiums.
President Trump promised on Twitter to always uphold health insurance protections for people preexisting conditions, according to the report.
