Mr. Gfrerer is an executive director with professional services firm Ernst & Young, where he works with the firm’s risk and cybersecurity practice. As part of his nomination, Mr. Gfrerer may also take on the role of CIO at the VA, Politico hypothesizes in its eHealth newsletter.
Mr. Gfrerer previously served in the U.S. Marine Corps for two decades and was a U.S. Department of Defense detailee to the U.S. Department of State, where he led interagency projects related to counterterrorism and cybersecurity.
