Christus Santa Rosa Physician Ambulatory Surgery Center in Alamo Heights, Texas, will be converted into the surgical hospital at an anticipated cost of $25 million with an estimated completion date of Dec. 2011.
The health system will then contract with a physician-owned company to co-manage the facility; this partnership model is growing in popularity and can serve as an alternative to a joint venture or hospital employment of physicians.
“Throughout the planning process for the Alamo Heights hospital, we have been fortunate to develop co-management arrangements with our surgeon partners with the intent to improve patient outcomes, increase efficiency and lower our overall costs,” said Christus Santa Rosa Health Care President/CEO Pat Carrier in the news release. “Once the facility is operational, our physicians and Christus Santa Rosa management team will be aligned toward a common goal.”
