According to the post, using standards of performance is a great way to select applicants and engage staff.

In order to support standards of performance at an organization, it is important to:

– Lead by example
– Reward and recognize excellence
– Celebrate wins
– Keep focus on the Standards of Performance

HealthStream notes that Standards of Performance should be used as benchmarks and need to be employed every day. Easy ways to do this are:

– Incorporate in daily communication
– Implement a Standard of the Month
– Reward and recognize employees consistently
– Celebrate as team members improve customer satisfaction scores through commitment to the behaviors
– Encourage leadership accountability
– Be a role model

At Becker's 4th Annual CEO + CFO Roundtable, taking place November 2–5 in Chicago, more than 1,500 hospital and health system executives tackle decisions that determine whether organizations thrive or merely survive: protecting margins under cost pressure, choosing where to grow, renegotiating payer relationships, stabilizing the workforce and proving real ROI on technology.
