The hospital acquired the closed hospital in Bastrop because the city “has grown at a rapid pace,” said Terry Orr, mayor of Bastrop. St. David’s Emergency Center in Bastrop will operate 24 hours as a full-service, freestanding emergency department. The facility, which will open next year, will serve as an extension of St. David’s South Austin Medical Center.
